Employee Spotlight: Taylor Meluch, Senior Brand Designer

Welcome to the Boost Employee Spotlight! Each month, we feature a different member of the Boost team and their story. This month, meet Taylor Meluch, Senior Brand Designer.

What is your role at Boost? What does your typical work week look like?

I am the Brand Designer at Boost, and it is my job to create any visual materials that the company puts out. Some of the common graphics I produce for Boost are social media posts, blog imagery, website changes, internal and external presentations, booth designs for events, and so much more! I use software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma to do this. I am also in charge of assuring everyone in the company has access to branded elements to continue to spread Boost’s design aesthetic across all platforms.

My typical week is very busy—it starts with creative brainstorming exercises that help me produce the best results quickly, then moves into the production phase where I actually create the graphics, and it ends with review cycles to compile feedback on each design. My work is fast-paced, exciting, and creative.

What are some of the highlights of your time at Boost?

The biggest highlight of my time here is watching the new visual brand design take shape. Boost has always had a clean, professional design, but it is my job to take that brand look to the next level. It took some time, and the process has been slow, but now I can see a huge improvement in the quality of visual assets that Boost pushes out, and I feel so proud to be involved in that. During my time here, I have compiled a library of newly designed assets that elevate Boost’s visual identity, and that library is always growing. I hope to have such a strong design system that Boost really stands visually out in the Insurtech industry.

What’s one thing you’re excited to work on/ hope to accomplish at Boost?

The biggest thing I hope to accomplish at Boost is to be a part of a team that raises our brand to be the best in the industry! Boost has great products, so it's important that we stand out. One important way to do this is by creating bold and different, but informative visuals. I hope that when people see the Boost logo, they associate it with a strong, trustworthy brand. I also look forward to seeing which new white label insurance products our insurance team produces, and how I can help visually promote them.

Why did you decide to pursue your field?

I have a fun story about why I decided to pursue my field. When I was a teen, MySpace was a really popular social platform where you could customize the way your personal profile looked by updating HTML and CSS on the back end of the site. I spent so many hours designing themed MySpace pages, and even created a separate profile for other users to download the themes I had designed. This process got me interested in pursuing design as a career. Although things have changed so much in the design industry since then, I still get the same teenage, MySpace joy every time I create a new design. My favorite thing about being a designer is that I can be creative all day, every day.
